Last Puff Club will help smokers kick habit

By Times Staff Writer
Published October 11, 2003

SPRING HILL - The Last Puff Club is a new club for smokers wishing to kick the habit, as well as for non-smokers wishing to help family or friends trying to stop.

Meetings will be the first Tuesday of each month in the fourth-floor conference room at Oak Hill Hospital, off Cortez Boulevard. The first meeting will be Nov. 4.

The program will begin with sign-in and a light dinner (sandwiches, beverage) at 5:30 p.m., with the meeting from 6 to about 7 p.m.

No single method for quitting will be promoted. Information on nicotine replacement, acupuncture, hypnosis, going "cold turkey" and other methods will be addressed. Books and pamphlets from organizations such as the American Lung Association, American Cancer Society and American Heart Association, as well as materials from tobacco companies, will be used.
