Festival of Trees: More than 100 decorated Christmas trees will be for sale at the 2003 Festival of Trees this weekend at Harborview Center. In addition to trees at this annual fundraiser, there is a gingerbread village, live nonstop entertainment, shopping at the Sugar Plum Shoppe featuring hand-crafted gifts, a model train display, children's activities, clowns, face painting, an animated window display and visits with Santa. At this Christmas wonderland, you can buy a one-of-a-kind wreath or centerpiece for your home and decorate a cookie. Proceeds benefit the Hospice of the Florida Suncoast and UPARC. CULTURAL PROGRAM: The Tarpon Springs Campus of St. Petersburg College presents Family Festival of Cultures Day from 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday. SHOW/SALE: Artists Robert "RX" Boykin and Gale Gann will exhibit their latest works from 6 to 9 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Ozona Recreation Hall, 41 Bay St., Ozona. Boykin paints impressionistic-style landscapes, water scenes and still lifes. Gann, an acrylic artist and illustrator, will present realistic landscapes, colorful florals, pen-and-ink drawings and hand-painted glassware.
PICNIC IN THE PARK: The public is invited to Largo Central Park to listen to songs from the "Best of the '70s" from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. The event is part of the park's weekly candlelight picnics featuring the new sound system. Tablecloths and candles will be provided; you provide the picnic. The park is at 101 Central Park Drive. ART EXHIBIT: A fiber art show, "Common Threads, Uncommon Works," features quilts, beading, surface design, dolls and wearable art by professionals. PHOTOGRAPHY: The Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art presents a show called "In the Moment: Photography by Herb Snitzer" through Jan. 11 by Snitzer, a documentary and fine art photographer. For 45 years, Snitzer has taken pictures, working for Life, Time, Fortune and Look magazines, the Saturday Evening Post and the New York Times among others. He also authored a book about jazz. The Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art is located just west of Highway 19 at 600 Klosterman Road on the Tarpon Springs Campus of St. Petersburg College. EXHIBITS: The Dunedin Fine Art Center is offering several fall shows now through Dec. 24. "Paix Sur Terre 2003: Peace on Earth" is the theme for the Dunedin Fine Art Center's 17th annual Holiday Show and Sale. Visitors will find a variety of fine artworks from watercolor to pastel to pottery and glass. They will also be able to pick unique ornaments from the many holiday trees. "All That Glitters" is a Jewelry Invitational Exhibition in the Douglas/Whitley Gallery. This show offers a beautiful and enticing selection of handmade jewelry. Susan Maxon: "Art in Metal and Stone" will be in the Meta B. Brown Gallery. Susan Maxon exhibits her works in precious metals and stones in a one-person show at the Dunedin Fine Art Center concurrent with "All That Glitters" and the "Paix Sur Terre Holiday Show."
