Talk of the bay

Tampa Bay Magazine's hands-down favorite: Tampa Bay Magazine

With the arrival of competitors such as Tampa Bay Illustrated, Tampa Bay Metro and Applause!, Tampa Bay Magazine no longer has the bay area's affluent readers all to itself. Purveyors of day spas and Rolls-Royces now have a wider choice of venues in which to advertise.

So how well is Tampa Bay Magazine faring in this glossy jungle? Quite well, according to its own "Best of Tampa Bay 2004" reader rankings, published in the May/June issue.

Along with categories such as Best Airport (Tampa International) and Best Career Change (WTSP-Ch. 10 news anchor Sue Zelenko, who recently retired to get married), the Clearwater publication dutifully reported its readers' opinion on the area's Best Magazine.

The winner? Why, Tampa Bay Magazine, natch.

"When we were the only local lifestyle magazine, this was an easy category to predict," the editors wrote. "Now with over half a dozen imitators, we are happy to report that Tampa Bay Magazine is still the area's favorite, hands down."
