Lee Benjamin, a four-term member of the Pinellas School Board, announced Wednesday he will run for re-election.
The 77-year-old Largo resident joined the board in 1990. Benjamin's District 1 seat becomes an at-large seat this year, representing the entire district.
He said his experience as a teacher and administrator in Pinellas, starting in 1954, would serve the district well as the school choice plan ends its phase-in period in 2007 and as new superintendent Clayton Wilcox takes over later this year.
The primary election is Aug. 31. The general election is Nov. 2.
