Frank J. Muscarella III, son of Frank J. Jr. and June Muscarella of Palm Harbor, was appointed to the U.S. Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs. He graduated summa cum laude from Palm Harbor University High School in 2003 with a 4.2 grade point average. He lettered in tennis and football and volunteered for Habitat for Humanity. He was a member of the National Honor Society and was recognized by Duke University's Talent Identification Program for his math abilities. He plans to pursue an Air Force career as an orthopedic surgeon and pilot.
Cadet First Class Sean Murray, son of Terri and Bob Murray of Largo, graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy with a bachelor of science degree in business management. He will be commissioned as an ensign in the U.S. Coast Guard Department of Homeland Security. His first tour of duty will be as a deck watch officer in training on the USCGC Rush. He is a member of Sigma Iota Epsilon honorary management fraternity and received a certificate of recognition from the Connecticut Department of Higher Education for leadership in community service. He is a member of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeastern Connecticut, Worry Workshop at Connecticut College and the Jewish Coalition for Literacy of New London, Conn., and taught swimming lessons at New London High School. Murray is a 2003 graduate of Pinellas Park High School.
Navy Hospitalman Shaun A. Mikkola, son of Adrienne E. and John A. Mikkola of Largo, recently graduated from the Basic Hospital Corps School at Naval Hospital Corps School, Great Lakes, Ill. Mikkola is a 1997 graduate of Largo High School and joined the Navy in October 2003.
Army Pvt. Bryan Alan Kensinger of Dunedin, son of Vicki and Barry Kensinger of Dunedin, graduated from Army infantry training and advanced individual training at Fort Benning, Ga., where he was assigned to the 3rd Brigade 3rd Infantry Division. He is a 2003 graduate of Dunedin High School.
Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Julie K. Brown, daughter of Barbara K. and Milton S. Bryson of Clearwater, recently reported for duty at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base, New Orleans. Brown is a 1993 graduate of Sprauge High School, Salem, Ore., and joined the Navy in June 1993.
Air Force Airman Bryan Cain, son of Timothy and Leslie Cain of Largo, graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. He is attending technical school at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi and will be stationed at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma. He is a 2002 graduate of Gibbs High School.
Coast Guard Ensign Mark A. Piber, son of Gusti A. Piber of Clearwater Beach, recently graduated from the damage control assistant course at Surface Warfare Officer School, Newport, R.I. Piber is a 1999 graduate of Clearwater Central Catholic High School and a 2003 graduate of U.S. Coast Guard Academy, New London, Conn., where he earned a bachelor of science degree.
Navy Hospitalman Apprentice Raymond S. Wood, a 2000 graduate of Community Christian School, Largo, recently graduated from the basic hospital corps school at Naval Hospital Corps School, Great Lakes, Ill.
