I-275 motorists can expect to detour at Tampa interchange

By Times Staff Writer
Published June 27, 2004

Northbound Interstate 275 will close to through traffic at Interstate 4 beginning at 10 tonight until 4:30 a.m., and closing at the same time Monday night.

Motorists will be directed onto eastbound I-4, where they will exit at 21st Street, and take the westbound I-4 ramp to northbound I-275. The detour is expected to add about 15 minutes to travel time. The detour road, 21st Street, also will be affected. Usually southbound-only, 21st Street will become a two-way street between 13th and 15th avenues to handle the interstate traffic.

The detoured northbound I-275 traffic looping under I-4 to the westbound entrance ramp will use the west and middle lanes. Southbound 21st Street traffic will use the lane on the east side of the three-lane street.

Additionally, the entrance ramp to westbound I-4 from 21st Street will be used only for the detoured traffic.
