Florida Highway Patrol investigators are looking for the public's help in the investigation of a car chase that ended on State Road 52 in San Antonio with a crash that killed two men on Oct. 2.

"The day that this occurred, 911 received numerous calls about the 2 vehicles that were chasing each other," FHP spokesman Larry Coggins wrote in an e-mail. "We need those folks to come forward so that they can be interviewed."

The chase began after a fender bender, the FHP reported. John O'Donnell, 38, of Oldsmar was stopped at a stoplight at State Road 54 and Bruce B. Downs Boulevard in southern Pasco County. Donald McCracken, 43, of Wesley Chapel, bumped into the the rear of O'Donnell's Hyundai.

McCracken fled and O'Donnell pursued him at speeds of more than 100 mph. McCracken lost control on a curve, and his Ford Explorer hurtled into the opposite lane of State Road 52. The SUV struck a Toyota 4-Runner coming from the other direction. Both McCracken and the other driver, William Streilein, 48, of Masaryktown were killed.

O'Donnell was charged with two counts of vehicular homicide.

Anyone who might have witnessed the chase is asked to call Cpl. Kenny Ratcliff at 1-800-235-6019.
