Top five movies and upcoming releases

By STEVE PERSALL
Published July 14, 2005

Current movies recommended by the Times:

1. Wedding Crashers - The funniest comedy of the summer, with Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson matched perfectly as cads faking their way into weddings for booze, food and sex.

2. Mad Hot Ballroom - New York City public school students learn ballroom dancing in a documentary to make the hardest hearts melt and the clumsiest feet want to move.

3. Batman Begins - More cerebral than slam-bang, but Christopher Nolan's take on the comic book legend should satisfy fans. Christian Bale cuts an impressive figure in the batsuit.

4. Ladies in Lavender - Those grand Dames, Maggie Smith and Judi Dench, play Cornish spinsters vying for the attention of a shipwrecked young man.

5. Fantastic Four - Marvel Comics' enduring superheroes finally get the big-screen treatment, with a screenplay co-written by St. Pete Beach resident Michael France.
